Prototype

The game- Prototype! I said that I would write about the game soon and here it is....
Prototype is an open world action game where you are Alex Mercer, a shape shifter with superhuman strength. He was infected by a virus called Black Light which gave him the super powers, while it made half the population of New york City zombies. Like what are the odds of that? I personally think if I ever get infected by a virus like this, I wont even get the chance to be a zombie. All I would ever get is a nasty cough and a bitter after taste in the mouth...
The game is set in the new york city. Its an open world game, meaning that you get to go anywhere you want in the city. And with a lot of side missions along with the main mission, city exploring is much more interesting.

The combat is the best part of the game. You can throw almost everything in the game, cars, tanks, debris, people, you name it. Also there are many exciting powers to choose from. Also there are a bunch of combos to choose from, and you can unlock a lot more as the game progresses. In addition to his own abilities, Alex can take the weapons from defeated or absorbed enemies. These include automatic rifles, machine guns, grenade launchers, and missile launchers. You can also take the military vehicles and give it a shot too. And that's one of the most interesting part of the game. What's more thrilling than hijacking a chopper and demolishing an entire infected building???
Also the visual design of the game is a treat. Hats off to the game designers for that. The game music is fantastic. And the story line, it is also very absorbing indeed.
The downsides of the game include short game play (if you only play the main missions), and slight controlling problems during combat, and the fun of scaling the city may wear off after sometime...

Dead in Space

Yesterday, after a long effort I finally finished playing Dead Space, a survival horror third-person shooter video game after about 12 hours of total game play. This game was unquestionably the scariest video game I have ever played, even scarier than Half life 2 or Bio Shock. The grim mood of the surroundings, the eerie music and the claustrophobic feeling of trapped inside a space shuttle all added up to the overall scare factor of the game. And the polymorphic, virus-like, alien infestation zombies called necromorphs were no beauties either.
Anyway, I completed the game and it got me thinking. "Why do we tend to do things that scare us?"
True, nothing can match the feeling of adrenaline pumping through the veins while we frantically escape an advancing alien or the satisfaction of dismembering a zombie with a single shot. But why do we like to be scared?

I think that people like to be scared, for a single reason. When people are scared, they feel alive. And feeling alive is very important indeed. It is due to the same reason that people go skydiving, wind surfing and possibly monster trucking. Anyway, in our boringly cluttered life we want to spice things a bit. But we are always too scared as our actions have a way of making consequences in our way of life. One bad step, and we would be screwed. So we content ourselves with undertaking challenges in the gaming world and killing the demons rather than fighting our own internal demons.

And in other news, I have started playing another game, 'Prototype' which is an open world action video game, where the villains are infected undead. The game is promisingly brutal and the protagonist, Alex Mercer is just awesome. More on that later...

Hello again(and again)

Hello fellow bloggers,
Long time no see. I desperately want to blog, but I am surprisingly lazy at it. So I have decided to cut all my lazy chords and post something here. Well here it is..
My all new Poem-

My Song

Who’s gonna sing my song
When I make peace with life,
Jack of all trades; jester with a tinge of irony.
Who’s to make sure
That my melodies wither to plain dust
Along with me in this dark ground,
So another may rise again
Awakened by my deep slumber.
Who’s there to break my chains
Breathe life to my mortal soul
As then once more I would spread my wings
And sour beyond time and space.
Maybe no one will hear my songs
May be no one will bury my creed
Maybe no one will cut me loose
Then I may lie; Deep in my grave
Cold and dead; waiting in vain
Just for some light to seep through
The tightly bound Mother Earth.

The Fresher's Day

So finally, my blog about fresher's day. It's been sometime since my fresher's, almost two weeks, so it's a late post. But you know what they say, it's never too late. So my fresher's day.....
Needless to say, but it was a complete success. Hats off to seniors for arranging it well, and also for not calling me to the stage. They have earlier informed us that we will have our lunch with them and they have earnestly asked us not to miss the event. Even though there was a tempting prospect of treat with the seniors, many of us (includes me) wanted to bunk the event. There was always a danger of being called to the stage to the seniors and asked to do some thing or another. And that was what you can call a scary propect. Anyway just before our class ended for lunch, the seniors miraculously appeared in front of the door, and literally herded us to the seminar hall. Thus they effectively thwarted our bunking plans. After the lunch (which was good) started our fresher's day event. In short, our event comprised dances of various styles ( spot dances, comprising of various genres like dappamkootu, kadaapuram style dance, western style dances, and even gay dance!!! and many other events all which performed by freshers(us).

"After all, it's your day!", the seniors said.

And our day it was.....

Apart from the dances, there were some other interesting programs like one where some us were asked to propose senior to girls with so much romance that they have to say yes. But no one succeeded in getting a 'yes' with the whole group of senior guys standing in front of the stage flexing their muscles. We honestly did not want them to 'trouble'.

Thus it was, my fresher's day.......

I'm baack.....

It's becoming a cliche me writing I am back in all my blog posts. What to say, I just can't write blogs regularly. I might be having blogolazino disorder or something. Anyway yesterday seniors came in to our class during the lunch break and announced the long awaited(dreaded) date of Fresher's day. It's at coming Tuesday. They say it's a chance for us to interact with seniors and chance to get to know each other (Yeah, Right!). It's a chance indeed, to find our inner talents in deteriorating our self esteem. But it might be even fun. Let's wait and see. Like I said before, wait for that post.

The one and only happy plumber

I'm hereby happy and somewhat sad to announce that my fever days are completely over. That would mean that goodbye to lazing around inside the house, movies 24 X 7, zero studying hours etc. But it will also means Bonjour to college brawls, hanging outs, movies etc. You can't have all of it at once, right? OK, back to college, the classes are still much boring, hope it eventually becomes interesting... I have the fresher's day to look forward to, where we are presented with an opportunity to become friends with the seniors. At that day, the seniors will treat us with food, they also make us come to the stage and make us do whatever they want. They make us sing, dance, moonwalk,do skits, mimes and whatever they feel like for us to do. Yeah, it will be a disaster. Keep looking for the post of Fresher's day in the blog. Now for the classes, I had plumbing today in workshop class. I made a pipeline with PVC and many joints, and it didn't turned out to be a disaster. But I am still bugged with the fact that an electronic engineering student has to study plumbing in his first year. But it is only a 8 hour class that only go through the basics. I think being an engineer means one should have a basic knowledge about each and every branch in engineering. So, that would means no more complaining and be a happy plumber. :)

Adios, till we meet again...

Check out Save Our Tigers | Join the Roar

You all might have seen the ad about Save Our Tigers in television. It's a sad thing really! I'm a Tiger fan myself and was dismayed to see that there are only 1411 tigers left in India. Hats off to aircel for taking the initiative. I checked the website and found it to be really good. Check it out yourself.

It would be very bad if our national animal got extinct. Just think, future students studying, "India is the only country in the world to have an extinct national animal!"- Real Bad!!!!

I just gooogled it and found that there are many blogs dedicated to raising awareness for the protection of tigers. Some of the notables are.....

http://protect-tigers.blogspot.com
http://save-tiger.blogspot.com/
http://tigersinindia.blogspot.com/
http://savetigers.blog.co.uk/

Many other bloggers have also posted about tigers...Check it in the following link.

If this initiative becomes a success, it could be very beneficial indeed, especially for the already degrading environment. Let's just wait and see.
Or even better, let's all 'JOIN THE ROAR'.
